York Story Slam is a monthly gathering where anyone can take a turn at the microphone and tell a TRUE, 5-minute, first-person story based on that month's theme.

Our October 20 event is an open-theme slam, meaning there is no theme. S o if you’ve had a story in mind you want to tell, but couldn’t figure out how to make it fit one of the themes this year, now’s your chance!

This is the last open mic event of the season, so it’s the last chance to earn a spot in our 2026 Grand Slam. And speaking of the Grand Slam, we’ll announce this year’s theme at the end of the October event.

Join us in our new location at The Hangar. Doors open at 6:30 PM and stories begin at 7 PM. Food and beverages are available for purchase — we've got beer from Gift Horse Brewing for anyone who prefers a little liquid courage before putting their name into the hat.
