Join Ren, Josh, and Tiffani for “What’s the Point of Games?: a Philosophical Discussion” at The Grotto on Tuesday, October 27 from 7 to 9 pm! We can't wait to see some new faces and continue our philosophical conversations and experiences in a new venue.

We'll discuss the following questions and more:

Do games have a value or purpose beyond “having fun” or passing the time?

Does playing games achieve something that other activities don’t, or do something better than other activities can?

Are games a form of art? What distinguishes games from other forms of art?

Guidelines for discussion and a brief advance reading from Thi Nguyen’s Games: Art as Agency will be emailed to participants upon registration. The experiential component of the event will be a game of Spyfall (a game discussed in the text) to inform the conversation.

Space is limited to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate in the discussion.
